I just eat mashed potatoes with more mashed potatoes!
What do Americans do with turnips, that’s what I want to know!?
This is what Americans do.
you boil turnips with your potatoes and mash them. you then add ranch dressing, butter and sour cream (all room temp so you dont get elastic-ey taters) to your white root mix (in place of milk) and eat that up. with meatloaf and/ or sausage.

In America the turnip and its cousin the rutabaga are the main ingredients in jokes, and in little else.
youre not from texas,or the southern united states, or some parts of the midwest are you timothy? we eat our veggies extra creamy, and never without butter.
Turnips? We buy them, let them sit in the fridge for five months, then throw them away.
Turnips and rutabagas are even often confused at grocery stores. Many a rutabaga has been found hiding in a “turnip” bin.
They suffer the same fate as the sad Sweetpotato. Is it a yam? Is it a sweetpotato?
I force them to like each other by mashing sweetpotato and rutabaga together.
