I don’t care how charming you are, you cannot make a good first impression in a bathroom. “Hello, nice to *squeak squeak* meet you! My name (@#$% hand-dryer) is Joe!” Doesn’t work.
Bathroom is to club as kitchen is to house party: where the real action is.
Actually you can get a lot of boxes on the roof of a Carolla (or Honda Civic), and if you tie ropes left to right, one high one low across the trunk you can get about 4 more boxes on the car.
The way to mount the boxes on the roof is to put a foam pad down about 1 inch thick all across the roof. It reduces sliding. Then make a rope lattice tied front to back, so you see the ropes going over the hood when you look out the front window. The back of the lattice is tied to the closest rope going across the trunk.
Tie or use bungies between and over the boxes to keep them in place. Boxes full of records will stay in place better so make them the front and back boxes. Probably the forward most cross tie should be rope, and an other rope should attach it to the rear most cross tie. Unless you knot them with the long pieces before you tie the long pieces off at the front and back.
Wrap everything in plastic drop cloth and you don’t even have to stop driving till you get to wherever.
The weight will cause the roof of you car will cave in a little, also the wheels will constantly scrape the wells when you hit bumps so you have to go slow. If you get up to 100mph after you take everything off the roof will pop back up due to lift, sometimes.
Is your car sick, or just cold? We have a large collection of tools at my house and one person who knows how to fix cars. If it’s sick, before you spend a lot of money diagnosing, come by and say howdy.
Sometimes the comic is too subtle for me. Also to me Fry’s means “electronics”. I thought you were maybe having a gamer crisis. “Must upgrade vid card Halo is teh lag.”
Anyway. Let’s diagnose it over the internet.
Can you mimic or describe any unusual sounds it made? Can you do that thing where you get the dashboard lights to flash out the code.
From the shake lines I’m thinking ball joints. Unless its the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAFS).
I interpreted the vibrations to occur at startup, hence the potential correlation with what is thought of as “cold” in Tucson.
It was vibrating only when we slowed down or stopped in traffic. And not in park. But then it stopped vibrating altogether, so now we’ll pretend it never happened (until it happens again).
The trick with pretending that it never happened is that next time, instead of just parts, you get a tow bill or a long walk in the cold. Could be something really simple….
