I’ll bite.
You boil the crap out of them pintos with some pork fat in the pot, then drain them. Then mash them up with some spices, chile powder, garlic and lard then you fry em a little.
Serve them up next to some chicken mole and fried rice.
I love Safeway receipts for this reason. I always feel like I saved mad money when I look at the bottom and it says I saved over 20%.
It’s like getting the high score on an arcade game.
what in the world does one do with 5.5 lbs of pork?
Adorable.
well, they look like chops. sounds like fried pork chops, have a few friends over, make a dinner party. everyone bring a side, that way all you have to do is meat and booze.
you make hummus out of pinto beans!
all that for $23? Was the pork FREE?
Curious… do you actually redraw the Raisin Bran Box, or do you recycle? I hear it’s good to recycle.
I’ll bite too.
You can boil them with some salt. Serve yourself a bowl full, sprinkle some cheese on top, tortillas on the side and you’ve got yourself a meal.
Leftovers you can cut up some chorizo (no oil necessary as it lets out plenty), throw in some pinto beans with the bean broth. Smash the beans but not completely and you have another tasty meal. Tortillas on the side.
Also slow cooking dried bean in the oven is second best if you don’t have a pressure cooker.
But really? Beans are pretty interchangeable.

The donation derby cartoons are hand-drawn, so I think each drawing must be unique.
It should be noted that Kidney beans should be brought to a proper temperature to eliminate the problem of toxicity (dry, fresh), slow cooking with kidney beans can actually be dangerous as a result.
I love food science (wikipedia is also loved).
Pintos are awesome, but not the most awesome of beans.
I like cooking, so I work with what I can- adding a bit of pork trim to some pintos would be a good way to start- some of your favorite bean seasonings would work well also- and with almost any beans.
My friends made a bean dip with LIMA beans. It was good, but weird…

I made this recipe, but used a can of pintos instead, it was surprisingly rich, creamy and extremely delicious.
