Thanks! Looking around, that’s exactly what went wrong with my cable – but since it’s for a 4.5 year old MacBook I don’t think anyone will be bleeding money into my cup.
If the problem is that the end bit starts to come away from the cable, we’ve been fixing ours with Sugru
have the cat been knawing at it? if so rub a bit of tabasco sauce on the new one to discourage that behavior.
if the cable is frayed but the plug is still good you can repair it with electrical tape. But if you can see the copper core for the cables it might be best to cut that part off and splice it together again.
You return that cable right now and make a friend with a soldering iron.
I do solder stuff as a hobby, but I would never touch mains power.
