Long, true story. I was at the beach and a family wandered away from an adjacent blanket leaving a diapered baby chowing potato chips. Out of nowhere a gull hovered down and deftly ganked the chip bag out of the kid’s hands. The kid was initially paralyzed with terror at having this huge flapping animal appear in his face, then rallied and let out with his best ‘I’m being murdered’ shriek. The parents rushed back and angrily confronted the nearest person, me, about what happened. No witnesses, and they did not buy the disappearing bird story. A lifeguard saved me from getting pulverized by the dad, but I had to leave the beach.
So I’m not surprised by anything blamed on a gull.
