i just dont trust them to stay together cuz one thing is a book case that will see light use but a couch has to take on my big butt on a constant daily basis.
unless we’re talking foutons, those i’d buy.
I say you can do much better in terms of sit-opportunities if you keep a close eye on the second hand market.
I used to have a 3rd-hand Ikea couch, and it was–surprisingly, given the general quality of their products–pretty much indestructible (my brother has it now and his 3 sons have not destroyed it yet). It was also extremely comfortable and extremely hideous.
Now I have a more grown-up and presentable but less comfy couch.
Pier 1, $599.99 for just a loveseat (Headington), but its cool looking and comfortable.
ooooh i forgot! whatever you do never set foot on an Aaron’s.
do they got those in the east coast?
it’s like legal highway robbery.
at first is like wow a couch for just $145 a month?
but then you gotta make 24 “lease payments” and that over-priced used couch turns out to cost $3400.
oh they tell you how much more you will pay w/ the lease but the letters are really tiny.
or you could buy it on the spot for $4500, making you think you’re saving $900 w/ the lease.
I have a schizophrenic relationship to IKEA. Every time I buy something there, it turns out to be crap, and I curse their business and their non durable pressboard crap and vow to never go there again. Then, about a year later, I am there again. I bought me a Knislinge couch, and it seems solid. For three days now! Apart from the fact that I had to spend 2.5 hours driving there again and exchanging a side part. It came with two right-side parts. And I got the bright one because the dark one wasn’t available. Which I will regret. The whole thing. Next weekend at latest.
