  2. i know what he means by pitchers not always adding up, especially those little stubby ones. Often i ask for more cups than there are people at my table to see how much there really is and whether its a good deal. By the end i forget about my scientific goals and just order another one.

The only bar in SF that I really have ever had pitchers at usually has them at what would amount to about a $6 or $7 savings (that’s a whole pint of the good stuff!) if you factor in everyone getting a single pint and then tipping a dollar on top of it (4 people to a pitcher for $12 (+$1 or $2 tip), opposed to each person to a $4 pint + $1 tip).
