You must get copious amounts of donations to do a donation derby every day. What a life … can we trade? I get to write web applications in python.
One donation a day would yield one donation derby a day. Seems like a lot of donations are in the $5-15 range, with a few up to $25 or $50. So it looks like an average of maybe $15 a day at most. Not much of a living, really. There’s also the t-shirt and sticker income, but the margin on that can’t be that great. Plus you have to be able to draw nice and be funny and cute. I’d stick with the python apps if I were you.
To be honest, donating is less for getting a comic than it is supporting your favorite webcomic. You can tell from all her donation derby comics that she’s not quite living large.
Well this is all obvious to me. No where did I say I’d make good money getting donations. She seems to have fun spending said donations, though. How much more satisfying is it to spend money from your adoring fans than it is to spend money your job paid you (no matter WHERE you work).
Everyone on the internet sounds bitter.
Food bills need to be payed, and the donations are the only real pay she gets for what amounts to hours of work. Dorothy is a cause that I can believe in!
If I could cut my alcohol bill out of my regular income, that would be an amazing step.
Ha. I bet she receives much, much more than the derbies suggest.
I also believe that she is secretly hoarding the money to fund her very own bio-terrorist research facility.
(By ‘bet’ and ‘believe’ I mean I ‘oh-so sincerely hope’.)
i want to go up and see this band, too!! who the heck is it? :D
If you hover the mouse over the pic it says Thee Makeout Party and goggle is confirming there is a band called such.
Man, “Dorothy is a cause that I can believe in” should be a bumper sticker or t-shirt.
