On the other side of the coin, my antique, Australian mother-in-law is thrilled that when she’s in California, she can talk to people about her bladder problems in public. (I’m not entirely persuaded this is a win for everyone.)
Thanks for reminding me why I’m giving up on New York and moving to California! (I cannot handle the rude, rude people, or the weather) Your comic really cheered me as I’m in the middle of moving stress.
Yay! AND I work in a Post Office! I’ve heard things are a LOT different in the USA compared to Post Offices here in Australia, though.
Thanks!
My best friend’s hometown in Iowa is so small that you can send her a letter in an envelope that only contains her FIRST name, city, state, and zip code. It will totally get delivered.
I don’t think I could handle living somewhere where everyone isn’t rude.
Man, when I moved to Montreal, it was like moving to happy, French New York.
The 11211 post office could give the 11222 one a run for it’s money, I suspect. 11211’s is more about utter incompetence rather than rudeness, though. Not to say they aren’t rude.
I do have to say, though, having used them a lot, the Canal St and Wall St stations in Manhattan are actually fairly decent. No comparison to an out-of-NY post office, of course, but not as abysmal as most of the rest here.
Kirstin: As long as you stay away from the general Los Angeles area you should be able to avoid rude people. It’s not too great around here… I once held a door open for a woman who was leaving the coffee shop, and then she stopped in the middle of the door way to talk to her friend…while I was still holding the door…for several minutes. She didn’t say thanks, or acknowledge me in any way.
I have overheard people waiting on line at the 11222 post office comparing it favorably to 11211.
I just moved to New York from the South and I think we are having the opposite problem. Hahahaha
Oh boy do I not miss the Greenpoint post office.
Ahh, culture shock is a bitch.

Once again for the Greenpoint post office.
