“…Up” has been on my to-rent list for a while, but I’ve been wondering… did watching all of them in a short amount of time get monotonous? Would I miss a lot if I just watched “42 Up” and skipped the rest?
Watch them all. Each one stands on its own, but watching the earlier ones and the character arcs that seem to suggest themselves/are suggested by the editors develop and change as actual people make actual life decisions no author or movie editor would write for them is fascinating. And at a certain point it (has to) become a study on how being filmed every seven years changes you, and the differences between your every day self and the self you present to the cameras every seven years. Each installment leaves you hungry for the next.
where did you manage to find these available for rent, exactly? i’ve been trying and failing for *so* long to get my hands on any of them, except, for some cruel reason, 42. i have it but will not watch it until i’ve seen the rest. it mocks me from its sleeve.
hey congrats on all the exposure lately, by the way. i had all things considered on when they mentioned you. time’s ripe for that book!

I have a good local video store, I guess. The whole series was recently released on DVD so thay shouldn’t be TOO hard to find.
