Outmoded Forms of Transportation

Fascinating. Detroit as institutionalized crowdfunding. That got big enough to require a continual campaign. And people eventually became bored.

Escape the radio, find new avenues of music. Explore the worlds of music hidden by those that don’t want to understand it.

Music had planned obsolescence like boat cars and we needed to change both every 2 years?

Just jump to a new genre or subgenre every couple years. Listen exclusively to music in 5/4 time for a while, or chiptunes or alternative tunings (19edo or 22edo or it you can find much, Bohlen pierce). The territory to be explored is infinite and fascinating, and we have so many people exploring it now that more gets tried than any of us even realize.

Sheet music publishing companies and movie studios turned out pop standards to a rotating cast of musicians in the 30’s. That isn’t that different from Max Martin producing most of top 40 radio nowadays. It’s shittier now, but it’s not that different.

I really think that people who complain that music sounds the same just don’t know how to look.

I enjoy exploring the genre subforums on RuTracker. It never gets old. Even a seemingly simple category like “authentic Eastern European folk” has dozens of variations that all sound very different from each other, depending on which “authentic” elements that branch decided to develop and which to forget. So there are dozens of “children” now which are perhaps all “authentic” but in very different ways.

As for cars… who needs cars specifically? They’re an inefficient way for getting from point A to point B, or would be if everything wasn’t planned around them.

Unfortunately there’s so much infrastructure already built for cars that we can’t switch to personal rapid transit, though it would be cheaper and faster.

The money is in keeping people’s expectations low. It’s more difficult to create new interesting work. This expectation is what was lost with Napster. It wasn’t about people stealing Metallica.

They request you to fill the appropriate form early in the morning so they can make arrangements. I think you should have the cat in an enclosure. Please check with them. http://www.brittspettaxi.com.au/

The “annual model change” was basically a scam in the form of sleek sheet metal draped over the same old mechanical device. It was like changing the cover of Dianetics but never updating the contents of the book.
