First 8 panels are funny and I could relate to them… but I have no idea who Joss Whedon is, so it kind of fell flat for me at the end.
In general, I find that when comics present a joke that depends on knowing a name of some famous person for it to be funny, I almost never know that name. Must be bad luck or willful ignorance of popular culture or something.
Oh you’re preaching to the choir. I think Joss Whedon is like, good every other show or something. Buffy, OMG AMAZING! Angel, Ehhhh! Firefly, Good! Dollhouse, Ow, ow, ow (like every other generic Fox show right now it seems…). Alien Resurrection was good too…
That said, Cat needs to go to Southern Germany. I was there in February and in the small towns it’s never died in popularity….It’s beautiful.
since when was joss whedon not good?! well if it took till 5769 for his work to be no good i can live with that. he’d probably be a senile old man by then
Yeah, Dollhouse is oddly generic considering it’s Joss Whedon. I wonder if he’s so pissed off his Whedony ideas such as Firefly end up canceled that he decided to make something that Fox won’t cancel.
@Grant: Angel was quite a bit better than Dollhouse (but yes, not as good as Buffy or Firefly). Also you’re forgetting about Dr. Horrible.
Love that undying Joss faith is compared to the blind love of Polka.
I am lost to the Joss Whedon true believers. Just…Dollhouse. And Angel’s writing was just incomprehensibly uneven and ridiculous for a great deal of its run.
Aw, crap. Don’t make me 1.) comment on the internet in order to 2.) defend a TV show. Fine though. Dollhouse got pretty interesting about halfway through. There. That’s all. Nobody should just write it off.
Dr. Horrible was not good enough to make up for Dollhouse. And I watched Dollhouse, all of it, and if there’s another season of Dollhouse I will watch that too. But that’s my own problem.
Ok, I feel better knowing that (at least someone named) Dorothy is still watching even without enjoying. I guess I only need to defend Dollhouse if I need to justify watching Dollhouse. Also (*search search*)… “Pleasure is too rare a thing to feel guilty about.”
Also, I am only watching Buffy for the first time now. I started with Firefly and I’m looping around, like the score on an old video game. But, different.
Getting disillusioned with Joss takes very little, apparently all that blissful writing in Buffy and Firefly is suddenly forgotten for 1 series in which he slips up a little. Admittedly I haven’t yet seen Dollhouse. But come on, he gave us “Once more with feeling”, he gave us The Mayor, he gave us Giles, he gave us “The Zeppo”, he gave us Wash and Kaylee, he gave us flippin’ Jayne. All geeks speak in Wheadon lingo.
Didn’t polka already make a comeback? I seem to recall everyone’s favorite music parody artist, Weird Al Yankovic, was a huge supporter of Polka and often incorporated it into his songs.

Oh, come on, Dr. Horrible was brilliant! You gonna despair after one season?

I don’t even want to know what a gaulplattler is.

LOL girl giving the year by the Hebrew count — perhaps when Jesus doesn’t return in the year 6000, we’ll get polka’s big comeback instead.

Cat should head to Finland, perhaps.

Wait, polka’s not “in” anymore?

A polka-bearing Jesus in the new millennium! Cloud, you have given us the idea that will save Joss Whedon. Someone fax that man!

[...] Some people I normally respect are all snarky about Dollhouse. [...]
