Girl: We see too much that's beyond our control Cat: We've always seen the same amount / Girl: and are told we have - just enough agency - Cat: Most of the people have always been powerless most of the time / Girl: to feel responsible when our best efforts fail Cat: Life is arbitrary / Cat: One day the wooly mammoth will come to trample you! Girl: It doesn't help that wooly mammoths are larger than they used to be / Cat: So we build a fire to keep the darkness at bay Girl: Or that their owners oppose protected wheel lanes / Cat: But the night sky is full of fires - each one larger than we could ever build - stretching out toward the infinite - maybe that immensity is our solace - the stars reminding us how small and inconsequential we are / (They gaze at the night sky) / Girl: My phone screen tells me how big and important I am Cat: I need a BIGGER mammoth
