    Actually the speed of light is around one foot per nanosecond*, so around 2 ns ago, your present light was a mere 2′ away.

    If my overhead bulb went out, it would probably be at least 6 to 8 ns before I found out. Tenuous, and possibly tenebrous, indeed!
