It’s apparant, sometimes, that Cat is totally stupid.

At other times, he’s excedingly bright.

    And I’m like “WHA?”

Of course free will is a lie. All your actions are influenced by your past experiences or your surroundings. The difference is between strong and weak wills. (Nietzsche)

So couldn’t we shape our experiences now so we can live the future we want? And only keep the company and see what we want to see so we can be fully in control of our actions?

I’ve never seen how calling free will a lie gets us anywhere. If we live as if we don’t have free will, what does that look like?

I think this is my favorite. “No presents?” made me laugh.

Cat’s question has more depth to it than all the rest of Girl’s superfluous words

Yea, Cat’s worry trumps Girl’s navel gazing any day of the week.

    1) Not So Bad a Dude: Per Determinism, your choice to shape your future is made because of who you are now and who you were in the past. So your argument for Free Will doesn’t refute this.

    2) 1SpacyHammond: It doesn’t matter if not having free will “gets us anywhere”. Truth simply is. If Determinism is truth, than it is true whether it gets us anywhere or not. Although, if you think about it, Determinism gets us exactly where it is determined for us to be.

I lost all my ID and went to a local senators office to ask for help.
His secretary laughed at my mental health situation
I got drunk again. I had been sober for awhile,
And kicked seven shades of everloving shit out of his fence.
Wrote a note in the fence pairings, which was the intent for the kicking.
Amongst the charges the special federal squad protecting dignitaries rocked up.
We’re cool, I was cranky at the secretary, have no idea who the senator is.
But they federal guy I spoke to is gonna sort out an ID for me, and wants to speak on some research I’ve done into the laws on indigenous status recognition in Australia, and probably a few other things once I’m done babbling.

I’m not sure if this supports free will or determinism, but it’s what is going on for me this week.

    Oh, got arrested yesterday.
There is a cafe that gives me free coffee because I am a lovely boy, they warned me something was up and assured me of my welcome.

Then yesterday a police man tapped on the glass and called me out. He said, and I quote

“Someone has told me that they didn’t like something you said. And so I am banning you from this cafe.”

Now, so far as i understand, that’s not a crime, or a lawful order. I told him this and started to walk away. He said “I can arrest you for that”
I said, as I proffered my hands “fine, arrest me”
He declined, (cue benny hill theme)
This happened 4 more times, the threat, the acceptance, the decline to arrest.
And then he struck me, not hard, just provocation, and I rolled with the strikes and went to walk around the bus that had just pulled up.
He panicked and began to violently, well, it may have been an arrest, hard to tell at that point.
Whilst being handcuffed I decided to turn off my phone. I had cat saying “and then the police let me pee in a cup as my screen image” (I will buy you gin if you’re ever in adelaide dorothy)
He struggled, but I managed to turn it off with my nose on the ground on the sixth attempt.
At that time we had another 8 officers arrive.
There should always be two. One to administer the law and one to witness.

Changing another’s story, no matter how powerful they think they are, I believe that is free will right there.

Do not try this at home.
    Or whatever…
