Once again, the cast of “Cat & Girl” breaks my heart whilst causing me to laugh at my own dire predicament of life. Nice!

Is it bad form to reuse parts of your Harry Potter costume when you dress up to wait for the midnight showing of Twilight?

I am a sucker for Vampire! okay… that was lame, but I really do like vampires ;)

Ain’t all vampires old? Because they wouldn’t die for centuries.

I like vampires too. But I’m not too fond of this Twilight craze. A friend of mine thinks any guy that likes it is a queer. Is this true?

  • Dorothy
    December 17, 2008

An easy equation. Your friend thinks anyone who likes X = queer means anyone who likes X = a good person to talk to and spend time with.

Twilight isn’t queer. It’s a way to sell Mormon ideology to vaguely Gothish teenage girls. No self-respecting queer would touch that mess with a twelve inch pole

  • SiMILE

That’s not a very long pole. Are you sure it isn’t a RULER they wouldn’t touch it with?

Also, I don’t think Stephanie Meyer had mormon ideology in mind while writing vampire/romance books.

Maybe (maybe!) she didn’t, but I just had a lightbulb moment wherein I now understand why the only people I know who seem intimately familiar with the books are Mormon women.

It is wrong to go out of your way or dress up for Harry Potter or Twilight.

Would I gain street cred if I dressed up for the premiere of “Mall Cop” at the dollar theater?

Ever notice how great books like oh I don’t know Twilight make terrible movies that appeal only to incredibly stereotypical teenagers?

    michael… the 90’s is the new 80s

however there hasn’t been any decent new shogaze music, M83 is refreshing (wouldn’t classify as s-gaze) but everything else has been mediocre

it was nice however to see MBV play

A friend of mine aptly pointed out that the worst thing about Twilight is the way it idealizes a horrible relationship. One minute Bella and Eddie are in love, the next they’re forcing themselves apart, clinging to the point that they can’t function without each other. It resembles not so much twue wuv as it does sickly co-dependance. Maybe this is what Miss Meyer is going for, but I don’t think most of her readers understand that this is an incredibly unhealthy romance.

Also, he’s not even a vampire so much as a magical supermodel with angst.

Wow. I didn’t get this comic the first time around because I didn’t know what Twilight was.

Now I feel kind of sad that I ever learnt about it at all.

True Blood (another new vampire thing) & most new vampire-orientated books I’ve seen seem to feature unhealthy relationships (of one form or another).

We’ll just have to face it: it is a Bad Idea for humans to get with vampires.

Two good vampire stories for people who hated Twilight: “Let the right one in” (or just possibly the english language remake), and Fledgeling by Octavia Butler.

Liz: not necessarily! look at Buffy! She got with TWO vampires! one of which lost his soul and tried to kill her and the other she had a kinda messed up relationship with anyway…..so I guess you’re right…
