Oh my god…. chuvanism in art, and unadressed. I will have to cry about this one.

Throughout this planet’s history, appropriation and exploitation have been basically a human condition, relatively gender and race neutral. The African ruler who disposed of his enemy tribe through selling them into slavery. The spineless plantation owner’s wife who desired class position and power, and often was more vehement against the loss of all that free labor.

Makes a little cultural appropriation look pretty insignificant, and the disjointed other side of the argument pretty much full of itself. Then they both look up with that “Buh, say what?”

I remember when Paul Simon came out with Rhythm of the Saints, and it had all that African-influenced music in it, and people accused him of cultural appropriation (although they didn’t use that specific term). In that case, I think people were being overly sensitive.

On the other hand, whenever I think of Pat Boone singing Tootie Fruity by Chubby Checker, I go into a black rage.

Also, Jack Johnson and John Meyer suck really badly.

I’m not sure what I think of George Thoroughgood being lumped in with those two though. I’m not sure how anyone could listen to “Bad to the Bone” and think that he’s being sincere and earnest.

Or is it just that he’s appropriating the blues?

Behind every white/genocidal tyrant/great… man is a woman. Whether it be his mother or wife or Queen Victoria.

Just because written history under christendom fails to recognize them, does not mean there weren’t female slave masters, rapists, torturers,
It just makes the xenophobia easier to get away with.

I live on the street, in a country that celebrates the inception of a planned genocide and conquest every year on the 26th of January.
Women make up more than half the voters.

With the population of Jakarta; a city
With the resources of a continent.
    We still have homeless people.
Because without them christianity doesn’t work.
Gender is not indicative of the monstrous nature of humans, nor is melanin content.

Don’t say “the white man is keeping me down” that is racist, sexist, and ignorant.

Name them. If they are doing it, find out who they are and publicly state your case.
You might find that still no one cares, but at least it will be truth, and not part of the white noise that stifles all sensible debate.

    Gah…
