I read this over and over before I saw “Continued” at the bottom. I thought it was even more open-ended than usual. And I was right, but in the way I thought.
Faced with people like that I’d drive off in a horse & cart as well. Kids of the queen we’ve got at the minute would go to the people and ask for a donation so we could buy them a new yacht, so the walnut or Twinkie option sounds damn fine to me.

I also failed to notice ‘continued’ for a while. I thought it was a perfectly satisfactory conclusion to the story.
I hope Girl’s Story-Time Corner becomes a regular feature. I quite like the idea of Dorothy Gambrell-themed fables.

I, too, found the conclusion perfect. Then I saw the “continued” arrow. I keep clicking on it, but nothing happens. I am now dissatisfied.
