One of my hobbies is to explore cities in Google Street View that I would never visit in real life.

I have recently been explored Harlan, Kentucky (because I have been bingeing the very excellent television show Justified which is partly set in Harlan).

What really struck me was that there are literally no pedestrians in the city. It is very disconcerting. Is it illegal to be pedestrian in the USA or something?

    American Dream is car.

I did find a fireman who had been hosing off the fire station driveway and a FedEx guy delivering to Coap Inc., but other than that it was Andromeda Strain levels of ghost town.

Speaking of American Dream, where is the map that was attached to the email version? It was disorienting to realize that Cat’s word salad might sometimes be French Canadian bean soup instead.

@David Thomsen No, no, no… not at all… the American Dream is a *better* car.

@David Thomsen Perhaps Google Street View doesn’t accurately represent a real time view of the city?

That said, cars do dominate some spaces.
