Cat and Girl
Detroit’s alright again
‘Stuff White People Like’ is written and read by white people who want to feel superior to other white people… but ‘feeling superior to other white people’ is in itself an activity that White People Like.
Also, is it not a First World Problem to be bothered by ‘First World Problems’ to the extent that you create a website for them?
Maybe I am overthinking it, but websites like this tend to perceive a problem and then actively try to become part of it. Except they lack the self-awareness to include themselves in their own disdain.
Apart possibly for Meth, these are not problems that can be distinguished as “first World” in particular.
At this rate, we’ll be so occupied with actual struggles we’ll barely have time to feel persecuted.
Jim: cause First World Problems = World Problems.
Are you really blind to the fact that the USA is trying hard to become a 3rd world country?
I’m bothered that we all still use the terms “first world” and “third world” (myself included), despite the fact that the whole socioeconomic world division thing died out at the end of the Cold War (“first” being America and the West, “second” being the Soviet Union, and third being everywhere else).
your strip has a way of taking something as comforting as looking at distractions online and turning it into something that intrigues me in new ways and horrifies me simultaneosly.
AHHH Why do I never learn? “Don’t read the comments, don’t read the comments.”
When is next donation derby?
Yes, I completely misread this. I’ve got to stop reading things so early in the morning.
“Maybe I am overthinking it, . . .”
Detroit is definitely not alright.
Hahhaha, good one! Made my day
Racism is as pervasive as the false notion of ‘race’. The Han Chinese treat the other Chinese people terribly. The tribal fighting in various countries in Africa. Hell, Mexicans don’t get along with Cubans or Puerto Ricans because of the African ancestry. No one is ever too poor to be exclusionary.
Sadly, a good portion of those are World problems. No first, second, or third can claim sole ownership.
And Globalization has been quickly dissolving the silly notion that there is really any separation. We’re all competing for the same resources.
