Girl: When we say Christmas is about traditions - we mean it's about the past Cat (in Santa costume): Christmas is a time loop / Girl: The perfect Christmas is the one most like all the other Christmases that have already happened Cat (shaking): The same food - the same music - the same conversations / Girl: Every past Christmas is happening all at once Cat: I've been wearing this suit since 1978! / Girl: Creating a past - not full of complicated people with their own motivations making discrete decisions Cat: I've gone DOWN the chimney - I've gone UP the chimney / Girl: But an undifferentiated mass - a blur of vague feelings and images Cat: There's no escape / Girl: The grey goo of history - stripped of specificity - that we pretend to find value in - while only looking - really - to see a reflection of the present. / (They look) / Girl: I can't wait for December 26 Cat (downtrodden): See you next year
