tex mexing- I read that and ruined a perfectly good swig of coffee and a few paper towels.

I couldn’t find ‘tex mexing’ on either Wikipedia or Urban Dictionary. That pretty much covers both ends of the spectrum. Now I’m at a loss.

Tex-Mex is a style of Mexican food that can be found at restaurants in Texas. “Tex Mexing” sounds like “text messaging” which you should not do whilst driving. Nor should you eat a giant burrito covered in queso when behind the wheel.

    September 25, 2009

@David: As far as I know, Tex-Mex refers to the cuisine of Texas and Mexico.

A vihuela is a type of guitar used in mariachi music, which I don’t think even Cat would mistake for food, even in Juarez or possibly Terlingua or just Santa Fe.

  • Jacob Adam

    Viva Terlingua! Ayi yi yi!

  • C.
    September 25, 2009

Vihuela is also a winery, which explains (part of) Cat’s buzz…

Sometimes I feel like the audience surrogate. Except instead of constantly asking about the mechanics of impossible science fiction devices, I’m constantly asking about American culture.

‘Schtick’!?! Cat falls off the wagon a little, and all of a sudden a perfectly healthy addiction becomes a comedic plot device! What’s the world coming to? :^)

“Why do we drive on a parkway and cry on a driveway?”

Its always funny to me when I’m caught off guard like that with something depressing.

Oh also as a final commentary, Vihuela is a type of guitar-like corded instrument native of Spain (although a mexican Vihuela does exist) and it’s also the nickname for guitar in several southamerican countries. I laughed hardheartedly at the idea of someone trying to drive while playing a guitar.
