my feelings for the cave can be described only as “platonic” but i might make a pass at it if i’ve been drinking.

“What if WE’RE the real thing…and there are people stuck in that cave!” is hilarious…just….of all the ways to interpret Plato’s Cave, to respond literally is so funny.

Ha! Cat, sometimes I love you, and I do other times as well. This is one of those times.

Pity those in the cave? I envy them, and whistfully wish to join them. Unless I already am, in which case it sucks.

The cave is alway realer on the other side.

The bathroom mirror thing is just more mysterious than anything else out there. It is the mystery of mysteries. Folks who do that kind of thing are the sort of people who don’t do anything but go out and socialize anyway, so there are endless better photos of them out there. So why do it?

It is the least cool form of all social networking photos. I don’t get it. I just don’t get it.

Except it leads to awesome things like this:

So, how might one test that hypothesis? If reflected light actually springs from a weird yet unremarkable glow due to photonic excitation rather than one’s own retinas (a dubious proposition, but fine), then rapelling into a mirror would be an obvious first step. And I’m guessing a front-silvered mirror, because that seemingly fragile layer of glass may make all the difference.

There are many people stuck in Plato’s cave… they are the people who are crazy and hallucinating, and the people who are asleep and dreaming.

My husband is asleep right now. Maybe dreaming. Should I rescue him? The cave might be nicer than our real lives are right now…

Best interpretation of Plato’s Cave yet! Get out the spelunking gear.
