Inspired by “Waco: The Rules of Engagement.” How is David Koresh the best-dressed guy in that video?

I’m not entirely sure what is to panic about right here.

Not So Bad a Dude, I see Cat and Girl is a sort of parody of the sort of things privileged people worry about in lieu of war and famine the other two horsemen whose names escape me.

I think it’s particularly clever because it is aware that parodying the sort of things privileged people worry about is in itself the luxury of privileged people.

It is like the website ‘stuff white people like’, but more self-aware.

I read nothing *but* out-of-date newspapers.
Not on purpose, you understand – merely because I cannot seem to find the time to read a newspaper until a few days after I’ve bought it.

I’m dreadful at losing things like that.

ordinarily i don’t want to be “privileged,” but if worrying about anything in life other than shelter and peace is what “privilege” means, i might sign up

plato was awfully privileged and he turned out ok. thoreau was definitely privileged, and inspired mlk and gandhi. gandhi was privileged, he was the original trustafarian (or was that buddha?)

The other two horsemen were Death and Pestilance. Being privileged only gets you away from three of the four. Death just gets aestheticized.

    What about today’s newspaper?

  • Golux

@David Thomsen – First World Vs. Third World problems as it can be tritely put. FW: I’m going to die if I eat a peanut. TW: I’m going to die, I haven’t eaten in weeks.

Guess what a major constituent is in the high energy food used for small children recovering from serious illness, famine, etc. In the war against death, the peanut is king. Oh, the horror! Bringing a sample to a school in the US would result in closure, evacuation and decontamination. And the bearer could face prosecution.

Sounds like we need total crop failure for a couple years to help give us perspective, and help us get our authenticity back as members of the human race.

Golux — dying from a certain cause equals lack of perspective?? I’m pretty sure a child while dying doesn’t care what country it is in, or how trite you consider their death method.
