@scare- someone picked the candle up in act 2 and replaced in infront of the rifle. Why else would there be a candle on stage if it were not to be used?

am I the only one that thinks the candle looks _really_ phallic? Like a cock’n’balls mounted upside down on a stand?

Anyway this is one of those Cat and Girls that I actually understand just from reading it — no extra Googleing.
That being said, I enjoy this one very much.

So who’s gonna get shot in the next Cat and Girl.

I like this joke because it doesn’t strain my brain and I get the reference.

So perhaps it’s not just Chekov’s gun but also Chekov’s candle.

Props in my plays would be like characters in Cardassian fiction- every piece would be used to kill someone, it’s just working out who kills whom with what.

I like to think it’s Bad Decision Dinosaur who always has to post comments pointing out petty inconsistencies in the illustration. That way, I’m not so full of disgust and irritation.

And after a HUGE wiki-walk, I now get the comic… well done :-)

I like “Cat and Girl” because it has more literary references than “Cathy.”

@Daniel: Knowing the concept of Chekhov’s Gun, someone will probably be shot in 10 comics or so as opposed to the very next one.

I was familiar with the concept, but didn’t realise it was called ‘Chekhov’s Gun’.

In panel 5, the candle has been lifted off the mantlepiece so that BDD can slide the gun behind it. He must have fantastic dexterity to be able to do this with one hand, but still, it’s not a continuity error.

i think it is possible that between panels 5 & 6 he lifted the rifle over the candle to place it behind it.

also, sometimes a candle is just a candle.

also, sometimes this comic makes me feel very poorly educated.

If a character was seen lifting a candle in the background 10 strips ago, it would be doubly funny.

I agree with immature guy, I instantly saw a cock candle.

I had to go back 10 strips just to make sure.
