Seeing as I got no sleep before work and I have eight hours left to go, I find this to be wonderful. Also, it’s my birthday. Well, not for another 24 minutes.
Ironically, I gained insomnia around the same time I gave up coffee. I think it’s my brain rebelling in the most sarcastic way it can.
Also, happy birthday, Joshua!
Fighting it? For me it’s more like a struggle to find it.
I’ve never wished anyone I don’t know happy birthday before. So, Joshua, you’re my first, Happy Birthday!
my brother has an erratic sleep schedule, which moves depending on his activities or the season. lately he’s been staying up past when the rest of us wake up, leading to the interesting experience of being woken by smell of cooking preprared chicken.
Yes, I myself have no discernible sleep schedule. I like to think of my habits as primal, like the bushman who sleeps here and there as his fancy strikes him.
I adore this!
Makes me think of T.S.Eliot: ‘A current under sea… Picked his bones in whispers…’
Girl’s left eye (in the last frame(s)) looks as if it has that inevitable twitch that occurs when one has deprived themselves of sleep, for too long.
girl’s all talk. talking all brave about finding the “elusive devil” but wants to hold of the encounter just a little bit longer. i can sympathize.
sleep has ruined so many of my days. both as my predator and my prey. im amazed i still have a job. of course, i do some damn fine work.
Has anyone ever tried that 20-minute-power-nap-every-4-hours schedule sometimes recommended by freelance or navy types? I’d love for more hours in a day, but I have a normal day job and I could never make myself sleep at work.
Sleep deprivation can be an excellent source of inspiration… Although, A certain amount of restraint is required. lest ye find yourself standing on a water tower, screaming obscenities at pedestrians.
I’ve wanted to try that, DoubleW, but my classes are each 5-6 hours long this semester. I wonder if the split could be made differently. 30 minutes to 6 hours?

We’re obsessed with fighting it, aren’t we? It’s like we’re afraid that we won’t wake up.

Does that make this a virtual birthday party? Happy birthday, Joshua!
I find it best to lay snares for sleep.

Sleep always defeats me. Always asking me to wake up at 8 in the morning, regardless of when I slept!

Note: I don’t know anything about bushmen.

it doesn’t even have to be obscenities. “Release the bats” can be just as alarming.
Me and sleep are the best of friends. We miss each other so much when we’re apart!

Tea for me please. A large burger king sized cup of unsweet tea.

Actually a devil is a type of underworld denizen that uses treachery and lies instead of brute force (like a demon) to wreak havoc.
sorry i am contractually obligated to say that
But I like sleeping: I go through the day, and afterwards I say, “Well, that was fun. Now what? Oh sweet, I get to sleep!”
It’s a fun activity.

And the moral of the story is… don’t sleep on a ship, or you will drown in salty water!
