Tex-Mex is a style of Mexican food that can be found at restaurants in Texas. “Tex Mexing” sounds like “text messaging” which you should not do whilst driving. Nor should you eat a giant burrito covered in queso when behind the wheel.
A vihuela is a type of guitar used in mariachi music, which I don’t think even Cat would mistake for food, even in Juarez or possibly Terlingua or just Santa Fe.
Sometimes I feel like the audience surrogate. Except instead of constantly asking about the mechanics of impossible science fiction devices, I’m constantly asking about American culture.
‘Schtick’!?! Cat falls off the wagon a little, and all of a sudden a perfectly healthy addiction becomes a comedic plot device! What’s the world coming to? :^)
Oh also as a final commentary, Vihuela is a type of guitar-like corded instrument native of Spain (although a mexican Vihuela does exist) and it’s also the nickname for guitar in several southamerican countries. I laughed hardheartedly at the idea of someone trying to drive while playing a guitar.

A little paint never hurt anyone.

tex mexing- I read that and ruined a perfectly good swig of coffee and a few paper towels.

I couldn’t find ‘tex mexing’ on either Wikipedia or Urban Dictionary. That pretty much covers both ends of the spectrum. Now I’m at a loss.

@David: As far as I know, Tex-Mex refers to the cuisine of Texas and Mexico.
September 25th, 2009 at 10:59 am
Oh, someone just said that. Nevermind.

i got pulled over on wednesday for out-of-date tags, and the first thing i thought was: is this about eating chips and salsa while i’m driving?
September 25th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
I always cry in my driveway. It is the only place where I am constantly haunted by my Regrets and Bad Decisions.
September 25th, 2009 at 2:29 pm

Cat hasn’t been drinking paint much lately. Glad to see that classic C&G shtick get dusted off.

Viva Terlingua! Ayi yi yi!
September 25th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
Vihuela is also a winery, which explains (part of) Cat’s buzz…

Can someone explain Girl’s facial expression in the 9th & 11th frames?

everyone one of these comments section is like a little group of art critics dissecting each comic and trying to figure out what it all means.

Oh! Did I miss the pun, C.?
I just looked it up. It’s a long way from Tejas.

“Why do we drive on a parkway and cry on a driveway?”
Its always funny to me when I’m caught off guard like that with something depressing.

The first step is to admit that you have a problem

Oh also I want to say that frames 4 to 5 describe my usual drunkenness just perfectly

I’m troubled that I find Cat the most sympathetic character to my own life.
