Funny though, the power of comics. I’ve just been browsing pictures of the rioting and violence in Iran – without having any sort of emotional reaction. And now this gets me.
(Stuttering) Dog! Oh…it died…Oh dog. We hardly knew ye. Oh and look boy gave girl flowers. That’s one nice thing. I really didn’t expect this comic and says a lot seeing that just a couple of comics ago the aliens also made a return. I wonder if the dog ever killed anybody…I guess we’ll never know..
Nice.
Honestly, I think Boy’s apologizing to Dog more for the skull with wings on it’s headstone rather than giving the flowers to Girl. Unless Dog was a Hell’s Angel, it’s rather poor taste.
Perhaps BDD helped him pick it out. :)
In any case I agree that Dog would approve this random act of affection. And it’s not like he didn’t visit, he just made a stop on the way and put the flowers to better use.
boy has a had some very negative life experiences. i wonder if he’s an alcoholic. itd be awesome if he wasnt. he’d actually have to deal with his emotions making him a better human being in the end. but hes not human, hes a drawing…
I thought Dog was evil & only wanted to kill things — when was he Boy’s “true friend”? I think it’s part of Boy’s pathos that everyone notices him & Girl even likes him but no one loves him. Girl might even love him except she’s effectively taken. But Boy still loves Girl & Dog anyway.
@Jamal (who will probably never see this comment on his more than year-old one): winged skulls symbolize the ascension into heaven and are centuries older than the Hell’s Angels.
Both the skull and bones and the skull with wings were popular symbols in America in the 17th and early 18th centuries, it is estimated that up to 1750 at least 90% of the gravestones displayed winged skulls.

Well now I’m just sad….

Kill.
Or is this a bad time? I’m really not sure what to feel, mixed emotions on this.
Also, happy anniversary.

I was feeling down until I saw this comic. So sweet.
June 16th, 2009 at 4:52 am
Aw. Oh well, I think Girl got more enjoyment out of them than Dog would’ve.

Wow. That was beautiful.
I think he made the right choice. :)

More like this please.

Wait, are Girl and Boy dating? When the crap did this happen?
June 16th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
Funerals are for the living… flowers too. Beautiful!
June 17th, 2009 at 12:32 am
Dog would have wanted this.

It seems so appropriate for Girl as well…

It’s kind of heartbreaking. Girl will never notice him, Dog was his true friend.
Though he wasn’t anthropomorphic and often desired to kill things…

Wonderful how you managed to mix a punchline and a moment of poignancy.

She knows something’s wrong. . .
Will we ever see a flash back and learn more about Dog?

Joanna, taken by who?

Sprayette, by her philosophical ramblings perhaps.
Tell me one serious philosopher off the top of your head who found (content) love. (Though looking back, many of the men were misogynists…)
