I saw The Blair Witch Project with someone who was afraid to cross the dark parking lot afterwards. Is it still scary to watch now, or was it too of its cultural moment to make sense outside of that moment?

I think Space Moose did the best Blair Witch parody of that time.

    Ulysses S. Grant? For shame.

The only thing I remember about the Blair Witch Project is the unceasing nausea caused by Shakycam filming.

I saw a couple scenes recently, and I instinctively tried to navigate the browser away from YouTube, except that I was watching a TV.

I first saw it in my next door neighbor’s apartment when it was “viral” and had no label. It was horrifying not knowing what I was seeing. I was also somewhat stoned, but still. I saw it about two years ago and fell asleep.

Who or what is Joseph Bueys? Why is lard & felt mentioned in conjunction with his name?
    Thanks,
    from a confused UK reader.

The Blair Witch Project captures something ineffable .. clunky analog technology, recordings you would make with your friends because using a video camera was an activity in and of itself, hotel rooms with faux-wood paneling, etc. It’s also still quite unsettling.
