It would be hard to find someone drawing cartoons now who wasn’t influenced by Calvin and Hobbes, but deep in my heart I preferred The Far Side.

I’ll bet every webcomic is because of Calvin and Hobbes.

Has Watterson ever said anything about how he feels about webcomics?

every every kind of comic is because of calvin and hobbes. my life is because of calvin and hobbes. watterson must feel so weird to be this god that informed an internet generation’s sense of pacing and humor and verbiage.

Bill Watterson’s essays in the Calvin and Hobbes book I had influenced me more than the comics themselves.

As an aside, I learned last winter that pop culture lied even more effecively to me about snow than about Californian beaches. Whereas those are simply no better than their Texan counterparts, snow straight SUCKS. Why did I ever think that something so slippery, cold, wet, and dirty could be fun? I miss my bog.

I’ve just thought of a reason for why I like Cat and Girl so much: it’s what I hope Calvin & Hobbes would be if Calvin would actually make it to junior high.
