    “All in the Family” placed the television at the center of the Bunkers’ living room, and they spent a good amount of time watching it, as I recall. We just never really saw it because their screen was our POV. Our TV was the other side of their TV. Kinda clever, actually. And a bit creepy.

    Did they see you through their TV? They didn’t really talk about it but most of us didn’t talk about what we were watching either.

    I think there were a couple eps where Lucy & Ricky watched TV, but it was a ‘thing’ with popcorn and what have you.

    Yeah, as other commentors pointed out, Girl’s thesis is somewhat flawed. I can recall several TV shows dating from the 60’s and 70’s that regular depicted the watching of TV.
