    The Dow Jones graph and what a slide it took. At this point we’re one year into the downturn. And at this point finally people are waking up to the reality. Way too late to do anything but brace for the bottom next year.

    tubejay, what is the source of your belief that roller coasters were MORE safe in the old days than they are now? And when you say, “used to be”, what time period are we talking about – the 1950’s, 1980’s…?

    I’m not saying you’re absolutely wrong, because I don’t have any specific hard facts either way. On the other hand, I do know that machinery in America is generally safer now than it was thirty years ago, so I’m inclined to disbelieve your assertion.
