  1. have you tried running vinegar through it? Calcium salts can accumulate over time and make the coffee taste funny and salty. At least that happened to mine. Run a 1c vineger/1c water solution through, then rise out the reservoir and run 2c water through.

  2. i am jealous that you get to drink your first cup of coffee at 11-unless that’s pm

  3. I am so glad to see that you bought two of my very favorite things . . . Painkillers + Coffee = YAY!

  4. Kitkat is right–if you don’t descale your coffee maker every now and again, things can get funky. However, it looks like you got a pretty good deal on a new machine.

  5. well, now I know what’s behind my decision to go to grad school. I knew there was some explanation out there that didn’t really involve a lot of responsibility on my part.

  6. hee hee, the last two cat and girl comics have hit me in the funny bone- hard. i dont know what all my friends are doing going to grad school either. and i REALLY should have gotten jobs 2 years ago.

  7. Well with the current decline in education in this country, college is the new high school and grad school is the new college. I mean a lot of people from my mom’s generation got by (and by “got by” I mean were making more money with higher job satisfaction by inflation standards than I do with my fancy degree) with an 8th grade education; whereas, a lot of students now only have to perform at an 8th grade level to pass the 12th grade grad standards exams or get their GED.

  8. you should upgrade from plastic coffee maker to french press. you don’t have to buy those stupid doily-esque filters for a french press, so i guess theoretically they are cheaper. plus you can just stick the whole thing in the sink or the dishwasher if you think it’s dirty.

  9. I have seen nasty black fungi grow inside coffee makers. It can be very unfortunate.

  10. I dunno, I’ve had my french press grow some funky stuff to the point where I had to toss it. Now we use a mokka pot, but from previous DD; there seems to be an aversion to using these.

  11. How exactly does a coffee maker even go moldy in the first place? I didn’t imagine coffee grounds could even grow mold.
