  1. It was a sad day indeed when the city’s convenience stores agreed to raise those cans of Coors from a dollar to to $1.25.

  2. 300 dollars is easily 6 weeks of food AND coffee beverages, and I live in brooklyn…

  3. oh god, i love the donation derby so much. it would infuriate me that i didn’t think of doing it first, only i know i could never do it as well as you.

that’s why, for the first and probably last time in my entire permanently broke, cartoonist’s-wages, hate-the-internet life, i’m going to actually use a donation button! thank you for years of services rendered.

  4. …also, sorry to make it sound like 5 measley bucks was turning me into oskar schindler.

  5. It’s $ 65 for a piece of beef at Craftsteak, without so much as a sprig of parsley. $ 12 for a baked potato. We passed on it and went to the Noodle bar. If nobody blinks when they price a trench coat in NYC for $ 900, they won’t blink at a PerSe tab of four bills.
There’s an expression for this: “investment eating”!

  6. Craftsteak remains the most expensive meal, but also by far the best meal I’ve ever had a restaurant. The service was excellent, the meat was to die for, and the 12 dollar potato was the finest potato ever :) It’s hard to say though, if all the extra quality was worth the $100+ per head.
