This is one of those Cat and Girls that says just what I’ve been thinking, which both gives me a sense of…community is almost the right word…and says it with such excellent illustrations and expositions that I can only wish my thoughts looked more like them. Thanks!

We’re hoping “authority” can go back to being a legalistic system with checks and balances instead of a strongman. And I think banding together and creating a police department, or an agency to collect the taxes to run public schools, is a beneficent authority, or at least an authority that does more harm than good. Have I missed the point completely?

This is why Grrl is my favorite character. “Even I almost want to say yes.” That’s me there, man.

The only beneficent authority is your own direction!

whether the leaders screw up or we do, we share in the shame because we share the planet. better to let the people screw up than let the leaders control everything.

there will never be a beneficent leader in a world without enough beneficent people- in a world with enough beneficent people, a leader is almost redundant. beyond possible assistance organizing, a beneficent leader would never rule.
